The Whistler Observatory is a place for everyone to explore and learn about the night sky together without having to belong to an organization or pay a fee. Located within Van Dyke Park, in Red Lodge, Montana, it’s open to the public each Friday night starting at dusk. It’s facilitated by by “friends of the WO” whom operate the roll-off roof and an on-site menagerie of telescopes for visitors. The Red Lodge Dark Skies group also uses the observatory to educate visitors about the 5 principles of lighting and the importance of preserving and protecting our rural dark skies. Come look up with us!
