We are a 501(c)(3) nonprofit based in Red Lodge, Montana, serving the nearly 1 million acre Absaroka-Beartooth Wilderness and its surrounding communities. Our mission is to support stewardship of the A-B Wilderness and foster appreciation of all wildlands, which we do through volunteer engagement, education and outreach, and community collaboration. Our staff, board, and partners live and work around the A-B region, while our members, volunteers, and supporters hail from around the world. We operate under a partnership agreement with the Custer Gallatin National Forest, performing trail maintenance, site restoration, and invasive weed control; raising conservation awareness; monitoring visitor use and ecological impacts; and leading other activities for the “maintenance and improvement of ecosystem integrity, water and air quality.”
